Llandrindod Wells Events: Canopy Nights
A local Llandrindod Wells charity, The Spa Town Trust, is launching a new monthly entertainment tradition to help improve the town. The first free “Live at the Canopy” event will be held on Saturday, September 25, at 7:30pm in the Rock Park Spa building complex, with local musical performers providing an evening of entertainment and inspiration. “This is a great idea that ticks many boxes in order to help improve the town’s quality of life,” said Donald Johnson, head of the promotion committee at the Llandrindod Wells Spa Town Trust. “We hope this will become a popular monthly Saturday night event of healthy fun where local residents can entertain each other. Music, stories, comedy, recitations, bird calls – whatever works. It depends on what people want to do.” Mr. Johnson also hopes that these ongoing “canopy nights” will increase residents’ awareness of the Spa Town Trust’s plans to win grant funding for refurbishing and enclosing the Victorian outdoor entertainment area, whose canopy roof needs major repair. Trust Manager Michiel Blees added, “I hope these ‘canopy nights’ will encourage people to support restoration of this fine Victorian structure for new uses in the future.” The event has free entry, with drinks, etc. available for purchase. The Heritage Centre venue at the Rock Park Spa has limited seating, so early attendance is recommended. Doors open at 7pm. For more information or to be involved, call Donald Johnson on 01597 823629 or Adam Sim on 829665.
